Twitter

Twitter, like any other social networking site, is beign used by so many people.

There are so many uses for twitter. It could be used for business, entertainment, educational, social, news and recreational uses.  Twitter was founded in San Francisco, California by Jakc Dorsey, Noah Glass, Evan Williams and Biz Stone. The website was launched on July 15, 2006. In June 2011 there were over 360 million users on Twitter.Twitter is used worldwide. Twitter is like a blog but can only have posts with a max of 140 characters. You can post anything you would like to. You can post sentences and you can also post pictures. You can follow people, be followed, block, mention and retweet people. When you mention someone you would write in your psot " @RosemarieSabino is pretty " and it would show up on that persons twitter "connection" page. Once that person recieves that, if they like it (which is usually why) they can retweet it. Theres a button and it looks like a recycling emblem and you click it then it will show up on your twitter page as " @RosemarieSabino is pretty " and under it, it will say in green " Retweeted". There are so many ways to connect on Twitter.

This technology could be abused and could be potentially harmful. There are so many things that could happen on Twitter that can hurt people. Some things that can be hurtful and bad are;

• Racial Slurs
• Bullying
• Discrimination
• Bad Pictures
• Mean Comments About People
• Viruses
• Threats
• ETC

These things can be harmful to the people that use Twitter and to the people that produce these terrible things. The people that these things effect can go as far as commiting suicide. There are times not just on Twitter that people have taken the mean and disrespectful things said , and taken them to heart and hurt themselves. The people who said the mean and disrespectful things have been taken so far that they have been criminally charged. Although there havent been to many reports on this as there have been with Twitter all of this are possible.

It can also be a good thing. Examples are:

• Advertisments for businesses
• Celebrity Publicity
• Fun Facts

These things are good for mostly businesses, big, small and individual. They can post speacials that they're doing with sales, etc. They can also post pictures and articles about the things they have done.  For example a bakery can post pictures of cakes they have designed and people can see the things they are capable of and they can come in and ask questions. Celebrities have twitters so that they can post pictures and post about things that they are doing for their fans. Their fans can search them and click " Follow" button so that everything that the celebrity posts will come up on their news feed.
